36 Years

"But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought."
George Orwell

"Political language... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind."
George Orwell

In light of the 36th anniversary since Roe v. Wade coming up this January 22nd, I bring out a special Lying Liars And The Lies They Lie. George Orwell's quotes enlighten us as to the strategy of those lobbying for abortion over the past half century. First we must get a sense of how the medical profession felt about abortion in the past.

"
The abortionists are more destructive to human life than ten British armies; but there are few to raise their voices in behalf of helpless, uncomplaining, unborn children. If our private interests were at stake, how quickly each one of us would seek the intervention of law, and thus assert his rights! But even law has failed to protect helpless innocence, the pulpit has never taken hold of the subject in the proper manner, and it now becomes the duty of the medical profession, as guardians of the health of the people, to take the matter in hand, and if they stand forward with a determined will and united front, they cannot fail to accomplish their object.

Every practising physician in the land (as well as every good man) has a certain amount of interest at stake in this matter. Every physician, as far as his practice extends, should feel that in his professional department he is the shepherd of his flock, and it becomes his duty to see that these wolves in sheep's clothing should not make any inroads among them. The members of the profession should form themselves into a special police to watch, and to detect, and bring to justice these characters. They should shrink with horror from all intercourse with them, professionally or otherwise. These men should be marked as Cain was marked; they should be made the outcasts of society. If an epidemic, if the Asiatic cholera were again to visit our shores, or the yellow fever should prevail to a great extent in any of our large cities, the medical profession would at once be aroused from their slumbers, all their energies would be called into play, every effort would be made, every engine would be set to work, to cure the disease or limit its extension; and yet these monsters of iniquity are permitted to stalk abroad in open day, carrying worse than contagion with them, poisoning wherever they are permitted to touch, invading the very sources of life, and fattening on the blood of their victims. And yet the profession of medicine remains inactive—that profession which is styled an honorable one; that profession so far- famed for its charity and benevolence, whose mission on earth is to do as much good and as little evil as possible to the human family—that profession, in the face of these evils, tolerates in its midst these men, who, with corrupt hearts and blood-stained hands, destroy what they cannot reinstate, corrupt souls, and destroy the fairest fabric that God has ever created, and yet all this is done under the segis, under the cloak, of that profession." Transactions of the American Medical Association page 256 (1871)

Those are some very strong words indeed. Now you compare that to what the AMA says today:

". . . the early termination of pregnancy is a medical matter between the patient and the
physician, . . ." ". . . the issue of support or of opposition to abortion is a matter for members of the
AMA to decide individually, based on personal values or beliefs." "The AMA shall take no action
which may be construed as an attempt to alter or influence the personal views of individual
physicians regarding abortion procedures." AMA 1992

What happened to being "guardians of the health of the people"? Well between 1871 and 1992 our language was corrupted. Abortion was murder plain as day in 1871. Today abortion is a "Right". In 1871 it was obvious that abortion ended an individuals life. Induced abortion was anything that interrupted pregnancy from conception to birth. In 1992, however, anything that interrupted pregnancy between conception and implantation had been redefined to contraception and interrupting pregnancy after implantation had become "removing tissue". The Roe v. Wade decision has the court stating that it believes that unborn are not persons:

"The Constitution does not define "person" in so many words...the use of the word is such that it has application only postnatally. None indicates, with any assurance, that it has any possible pre-natal application." Roe v. Wade

Now this sounds very familiar to me. Oh yes the famous Dred Scott v. Sanford case of 1857 where African-Americans were viewed as
"beings of an inferior order, and altogether unfit to associate with the white race, either in social or political relations, and so far inferior that they had no rights which the white man was bound to respect."
It also reminds me of what happened in Nazi Germany. The Nuremburg laws which forbade Jews and Gentiles from marrying imitated Virginia law which forbade blacks marrying whites. Indeed, the Nuremburg laws were even formulated with the help of a Harvard law graduate.

By removing unborn from those to whom belong the inalienable rights the Abortion industry was able to control public opinion. Just as germans were able to treat fellow human beings like so much trash after all of the rhetoric of them being sub human, and just as white americans were able to treat black americans like so much trash after all of the rhetoric of them being sub human, public opinion was swayed rapidly away from protecting unborn humans and protecting them like we would ourselves. By corrupting the language abortionists corrupted thought.

This lie has persisted for many years now. Here we are 36 years later marking the date of the despicalbe Roe v. Wade decision that excluded some of us from the rights inherent to all of us. The only way we will overcome this is by reclaiming our language.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Johns Hopkins Study Lies About Abortion Studies

Alright my first big post about lying liars!

John Hopkins has recently released a "systematic review of the evidence" regarding the topic of induced abortions leading to mental health issues. Seeing as how the text of the study is not available for free (and due to the fact that I'm quite a cheapskate) I will not be able to do an in depth analysis of the lies within.

Therefore, I will address the lie that studies that have found a link between abortion are politically motivated.
"Based on the best available evidence, emotional harm should not be a factor in abortion policy. If the goal is to help women, program and policy decisions should not distort science to advance political agendas" - Vignetta Charles
This lie implies to the reader that this particular study is free of politically motivated links. Here are the folks involved with this study:
  • Vignetta E. Charles - Ms. Charles is a "Senior Fellow" of the non-profit Hewlett Foundation which issues grants for programs in education, the environment, global development, performing arts, philanthropy, and population; and it also makes grants to aid disadvantaged communities in the Bay Area. A quick scan of their grantmaking section enlightens us quite a bit about what Ms. Charles supports. For 2007 Goals it states, "Make grants to organizations that advocate for policy reforms at state and local levels, especially for access to emergency contraception and to comprehensive sex education in public schools". Ms. Charles is involved in an organization whose stated goals are to politically influence liberalization of abortion laws.
  • Chelsea B. Polis - Chelsea is a consultant for WHO. WHO states as one of its goals, "promote an environment at international level that is supportive of family planning." Which of course means liberalization of abortion laws.
  • Srinivas Sridhara - I can't find out much about this fellow.
  • Robert W. Blum - Dr. Blum also has ties with WHO, but more importantly he is a chair person of the Guttmacher Institute Board of Directors. Guttmacher is of course Planned Parenthoods research organization. The mission statement states, "The Institute works to protect, expand and equalize access to information, services and rights that will enable women and men to" have abortions of course!
The moral of the story is a simple one. Do not claim that others are politically motivated when you yourself are politically motivated!

First Post!

I will be attempting to find public announcements, speeches, letters, and interviews of public officials that contain blatant lies. I will then declare how many lies I found and fisk them as quickly as possible.

Let the fisking begin!
